History
The history of the gin sour is not that remarkable compared to others. After the invention of the whiskey sour, as is typical with all cocktail formats, bartenders began playing with the spirit base and the gin sour came into existence. It is this drink's derivatives that have garnered more reknown: the gimlet and Aviation cocktails. Although London dry gin is most commonly used for the sour, any gin can be tried for different mouthfeels and palates.
