Stir Society
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
Stir Society is a home bartender’s compendium. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site collects when you use it, what we do with it, and the choices you have. You can browse the whole site without an account.
What we collect
If you create an account
- Your email address and, if you sign up with email, a password. Passwords are stored by our account provider in scrambled (hashed) form; we never see or store them in readable form.
- If you choose “Continue with Google”: your email address and basic profile (name and picture) from your Google account. We never receive your Google password.
What you create on the site
- Recipes you save as favorites.
- The bottles and ingredients in “My bar”.
- Your private variations of cocktails: names, ingredients, notes and any photo you upload.
Automatically
- Our hosting provider keeps routine server logs (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.
- Your browser stores a few preferences on your own device: light or dark theme, ounces or milliliters, your bar while you are signed out, and which tree branches you opened.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information.
- We do not show advertising or use advertising trackers.
- We do not run analytics or tracking cookies at this time. If that changes, this page will say so first.
How we use it
Only to run the features you ask for: signing you in, keeping your favorites, bar and private variations, and showing them back to you on any device. We may also use it to fix problems and to protect the site from misuse.
Your private variations are private
Your favorites, bar and private variations (including photos) are visible only to you while signed in; other visitors cannot see them, and they never appear on the public site. The person who runs Stir Society can technically open the database for maintenance, and does not browse private content except where needed to fix a problem or to follow the law.
Who else handles your information
- Supabase: accounts, the database and private photo storage.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.
These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy terms. Their servers may be located outside your country.
Cookies and device storage
Stir Society uses only what is needed to work: a sign-in session if you have an account, and the preferences listed above. There are no marketing cookies.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your account information and content until you ask us to delete it. To delete your account and everything linked to it, or to ask what we hold about you, contact us at support@stirsociety.bar. You can also remove favorites, bar items and variations yourself at any time.
Age
Stir Society is about alcohol and is meant for adults of legal drinking age where they live. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date above.
