Guastavino's in NYC made this drink for Sarah Jessica Parker on Sex and the City, propelling the cocktail to fame. The version here is a hybrid of what was originally two separate variations: Flirtini #1 and Flirtini #2.

- ½ ozCointreau
- ½ ozFresh lime juice
- ½ ozCranberry juice

- Top withChampagne or dry sparkling wine
Method
- Muddle the raspberries in the bottom of a martini glass
- Combine the raspberry vodka, cointreau, pineapple juice, cranberry juice and lime juice in a shaker.
- Shake vigorously and double strain into glass
- Top with champagne (use Moscato for an even sweeter profile).
- Garnish with mint sprig (optional)
History
The Flirtini became popular thanks to Sex and the City (just like its parent, the pink Cosmo). It was created in 2003 for Sarah Jessica Parker by Guastavino's in NYC, HBO released a sample recipe of the Flirtini on its website at some point but since then, it has been modified in various ways.
Using pineapple juice, the Flirtini is the Cosmo's sweeter cousin, more tropical, and with a touch of fizz. The original Flirtini #1 recipe that you might find on many cocktail-making websites makes the drink solely with raspberry liqueur (Chambord or Bol's). While keeps the drink mostly pink, it also becomes more tart and less refreshing. The Flirtini #2 substitutes the raspberry for pineapple juice, making the drink quite sweet but removing any pink color. The variation I present here is called the Pink Flirtini, and sits as a hybrid between the two. It's refreshing, sweet-tart, and quite boozy.
